Hi Everyone,
My main goal when I started PEZ Pinz was to make a licensed PEZ product that would be collectible, increase in value and be an asset to our hobby. I’m always learning and trying to improve, that’s why I have been changing things. Now we are making pins with lower release numbers and discontinued the older pins.
I brought pins to CT PEZ Con and St Louis PEZ cons and didn’t sell as much as I thought I should. So, I had someone else selling pins for us in Cleveland and they didn’t sell that much either. The one thing I learned from this was most people said they had already bought the pins either from the newsletter of from the web site. So, the good news is that the pins are getting out there into collectors hands.
A big part of pin collecting (in the hobby of pin collecting) is trading pins. Pin collecting is getting very popular among PEZheads. Pin swap parties and seminars on pin collecting are becoming part of PEZ convention agendas. Then I thought (for those that get the newsletter know that’s a dangerous thing) there must be a way to give this segment of the hobby a big boost. I want to see more people get into swapping pins. Swapping is fun to do.
I know I said no more new pins for 2008, but I came up with a really great idea. PEZ Pinz is going to make one pin that is only available through direct sales at conventions. (It will not be available from the web site or in the newsletter) I have a pin collector that I know and trust that said they would sell them at conventions for us. I don’t know exactly what shows they will attend yet. But we will start with the PEZ in the Sun convention- Myrtle Beach in October. 100 pins will be made and be available for sale, first come, first serve. If they sell out good, if they don’t then that pin will be retired. So, it’s very possible this pin might have a release of 100 or 75 pins, or even less! We won’t know until after the convention. Then at the next convention a color variation of that pin will be available. Again, however many sells at that convention, that is how many will be sold-PERIOD! I found a pretty cool looking old ad I got from PEZ and made 5 color variations of it. I feel that this will give collectors that attend a convention an item to trade or resell and help promote pin trading in the PEZ hobby. Sounds cool huh? To see the samples of these pins go to
